hope this is the best place for this question...

AU Series 1 Falcon Forte, suddenly today I can't lock the car. The dash is telling me that one of the doors is open, pushing the button down results in it popping up again, car beeps at me if I use the remote.

I've checked and double checked that all of the doors are shut properly, it looks like the drivers door is causing the problem. Sometimes when closing it the dash light turns off but as soon as I hit a bump it turns back on and I can hear a click that seems to come from inside the door.

Where can I find the switch that tells the car the door is ajar, in the old days they were visible inside the door frame but I'm assuming they are somewhere inside the door now? My guess is this is caused by wear and tear because the car is getting pretty long in the tooth.

Any ideas welcome.

If you suspect the drivers door, common problem is the actuator rod sticks or gets caught. Pull your trim off and have a geez, clean it and try again. Maybe apply some lithium grease?

Is the actuator the piece that sticks into the door at the hinges?

No, the actuator is the "motor" that locks and unlocks the door. The rod i am refering to is the plastic one that your snipper button mounts to. This normally sticks, but it wont hurt to give the other couple of rods a clean while your there.

hey mate my ed classic had the same problem, take your door trim off and have a look if both of the riviets are there! one of mine fell off and wouldnt lock!! just a suggestion..

Does any door lock? do you hear it trying to lock / unlock? checked ya fuse?
