im considering a ba xr6t that i want to have 300+ at the wheels, for this should i be looking for something in particular?mostly with the trans i think will the auto or 5 speed last with all the power being used regularly?or should i just look for a 6 speed?
cheers

Diff's are a problem in general, made much worse when you pump some more power through them.
I'd go straight to a 6spd, the 5spd man and auto are sucky to drive anyway. |

built BTR will live with 300 pretty happily, abuse not withstanding.
T56 will need a clutch shortly if not straightaway. clutch is cheaper then built BTR. manual is harder on CVs/diff bush and will never be as quick at the strip. don't even bother with a T5 would be my advice.

There's engine troubles getting a BA to 300RWKW too.
You'll NEED valve springs, want rods (look for a BA Mk2, or BF, BA Mk2 are stronger, and the BF got the same internals as the F6)

kind of...
after 06/06 BF's got the F6 internals.. i'd only go for a 6sp man or auto.. the BA engine should be ok for around 330-340rwkw with valve springs and decent bolt ons. my BA XR6t has an F6 cooler, valve springs and injectors = 280kw

I'd say so i've got the stock BTR 4 speed and the M78 diff and no issues yet.

My mates FG F6 has 287rwkw stock standard (it had 8,000 km on the odo when run on the dyno).
O and it is a 6 sp manual.

The FG gets lots of different parts to the B series. The 6 speed manual is different to that in the B series, the engine is of course revised. And it's have the full M86 diff (being a turbo) they're pretty damn strong (as long as they are built right, quality control was the issue the early BA's suffered from).

Street Fords reckons 320rwkW is THE limit for standard BA XR6T conrods. F6 is fine for much more. The BF got the F6 conrods / internals somewhere along the lines. XHXRSX stated from 06/06 onwards.

i'd say they could take a bit more. i think the E gas uses the same ones as they broke handfuls of them on the dyno when they were first testing.
