Hey all,
Well the XH came back from the steering shop in a bad way.
$2100 to fix everything. I was expecting $55 for a wheel alignment!
OK steering rack, is that the intermediate shaft or something else?
How do I change it?
The biggest issue is the car wont self centre when you let go the wheel. Has anyone any ideas as to what is causing this?
It was in an crash last year before I bought it; a pretty hard knock to the front right.
The pump seems to be OK I have degreased it to see if it leaking.

I would be going to another place and get a second opinion, it might also pay you to ask the person who is looking to SHOW you what he means and to be a little less TECHO so you can grasp what he is saying. A new Rack and Pinion sounds like it may be in order but you need to check first and make sure the guy isn't looking at you as if you were a Cash Cow?

Depending on the year of your XH, you should be able to use an EF or EL rack and Pinion.

We DO have a member who lives in Townsville, handle on here is Tickford_6, he might be the guy to help you, I would PM him and see.

castor is what gives you self centering, so yes alignment problem.
