I have just Bought another EL but in wagon form this time and I will be looking at the big brake upgrade for it in future, but in the mean time I am wanting to find out if AU series 1 front suspension will fit an el and will an au1 wagon diff fit the rear with out mods to either?
If not what is required |

Short answer is no.
Long answer is yes, but you have to add in the AU K frame by fabricating new crush tubes and mounting points for the K frame and front cross member, source AU lower control arms and uprights etc, as well as Series two rotors and calipers. There is a chap on Boosted in the middle of this right now. I for one am following with interest. If this was relatively straight forward, then there would be a bunch of threads with this mod already completed. Diff is easy, will just bolt in. Use a diff from an XR Ute to get a good gear ratio and LSD. Cheers BenJ

Ok thanks. I have been told by a few people that the series 1 AU front end was a straight bolt in job and that the rear needed work, but thought I would see on here first because if i can get the brake upgrade quick and an au diff then a nice set of 20's in au ofset will be on the car very quickly and that will certainly make it stand out

The AU1 used the same rotors and calipers as the EF/ELs, so there is no point in getting those. It is the Series two bits we all want for the cheap brake upgrades and offset changes.
Cheers BenJ

At the moment I am more concerned with the offset change. will au! do that? because no need chasing series 2 or 3 stuff when I am gonna get bigger

I believe you need the series 2 uprights to get the bigger brakes happening anyway, as that is what the series 1 AU guys have to do.
But Yes the series 1 AU gear will give you the change in offset, but you still have to fabricate a bunch of stuff to get it all to fit. This has not been done yet, and is still in progress. This mod would require engineering etc to be signed off. The other option is a Big Brake Kit that changes the front offset. Around the $1500 mark for those. BenJ

The only thing bolting in the series one gear is going to do for you is change the offset. Unless you are handy with a welder and in bed with an engineer your best option is an e series big brake kit that gives you close to AU offset (although you will have to make your mind up on this as I have read various reports both for and against these). But then again I am not even sure whether these big brake kits are legal without engineer approval (I think it unlikely that the whole kit is ADR approved)...

All I am chasing is a cheap and simple bolt in way of getting au offset prior to sorting out the brake upgrade

My money shot would be on approval of a specific design of custom LCA's to suit AU uprights so they can be mass produced? (Only because I looked into this when I had an e series and was too expensive to justify engineering for a one off).
