Hi folks, here are my new calipers that I picked up, they are brand new off a cobra but I am told they are the same as EL GT items.

what do you think?

what do I need to fit them to my EL XR8?

I believe you need the EL GT specific uprights/spindles and rotors to fit them.

Not easy to find, and very expensive when you do.

This sort of thing should really be researched BEFORE you spend money on bits and pieces.

I hope there is another option that someone else knows about.

Regards
BenJ

Believe it or NOT, the GT stub axles are still available and they are......$1065.00 each new

Maybe someone has one you can take a pick of? and then see if someone can modify the ones YOU have to take the calipers :D

theres a bit of work in modifying the stub axles.
speak to race brakes MELBOURNE (not Sydney), they do a kit that uses these calipers and i hear they are happy to seperate parts. not exactly cheap though.
you will need EL GT Rotors, or RBMs hub to use the mustang slip on rotor...
and a caliper adaptor...
may also need new brake lines, im unsure on that though... will know in the future, i have the same calipers to go onto mine, along with EL GT rotors...

for future reference those calipers are the same as AUII-III Tickford Premium brakes, and obviously Mustang Cobras as well... they are also known as "C4" calipers, I believe because they were originally used on C4 Corvettes, that type specifically on late model Grand Sport C4 Corvettes.
So you can get good pads pretty cheaply from the states.
