Location: New Farm
QLD, Australia

I am getting a 97 El fairmont Ghia (4.0 Six) and would like to get straight to the guts of where to go, what to get, and what to expect because the amount of bull...t out there is UNBELIEVABLE.
I currently have the V8 which is getting sold.
OK here's what I want

1) Need only the equivalent of a 'Stage 1' turbo system. Not looking for a dragster but a sleeper.
As the standard car puts out approx 100rwkw, what can I expect in improvement? The car is totally stock and would need new exhaust etc I presume.
2) What cost am I looking at fully fitted and ready to drive out the door?
3) Who in the Brisbane area can provide all the parts and do all the work, knows what they're doing and has a good rep?
Thanks guys, I guess I should have come here first...

snort performance do kits for the 4.0l and they make some good power, they are $3000 for the stage 2 kit and that puts out 200-250rwkw. Not to sure how much it would cost to fit, http://www.snortperformance.com/ford_fa ... o_kits.htm

best bet would be to get onto boostedfalcon.net and speak to Rollin. He is in Brisbane, and knows his way inside out a turbo E-Series.

Keef, as per above email there are a few people who know their way specifically around e-series.

For general Brisbane info, 'Elite automotive' in the archerfield/rocklea area specialise in Fords and XR6Turbos, so would have some idea of your project.

Jim Milliner from SMART Automotive at Stafford is a one person experienced mechanic who I've found very knowledgeable and reliable (hard to find these days!). He would do the project if you ask....he likes and is always involved in projects involving street or race vehicles and knows his way around forced induction.

Both SMART and Elite have websites if you're interested.

Joe

Sent email to CNJ Motorsport and received reply from 'Kel' who says that they can't do anything with this motor as even with extractors and dyno tune they lift the head bolts...
Elite quotes $9000 - $12000. Ahem.

Yep, Elite are expensive. True, they do lift headbolts. Jim from SMART has fitted ARP head studs to my AU. Price was fair and workmanship excellent. No issues since. I'd speak with him....they big name workshops always charge the earth.

If you can use a spanner you can do it yourself, its not that hard mate.
Apart from the ecu side of things you can install the whole lot at home in the driveway.

whats this BS about them lifting the head/bolts.

maybe if you're running stupid amounts of boost, but given Keef's aims, i don't think that will be a concern.

lift the head bolts? please!

only 3 things cause headgasket probs in falcon, age, they seem to last 200,000km, overheating, and detonation.
i used to run an EA 3.9 with 160rwkw plus a 200hp nitrous shot, if anything was gona lift head bolts it would have been that poor thing, i abused that car for 3years and sold it still running perfectly.

tune it conservativly and dont get it hot and youll never have a problem, assuming its in good nick to start with
