How hard is it to cut a hole for the winders in the door trim's? I want to upgrade my crapy gli doors for ghia (woodgrain) ones but i dont want to do the power windows mod.

the wood grain just sticks on, you could rip it off and put it on yours easily ...

Just buy Futura, Fairmont or (Fairlane) door trims.

hmmm... you have an issue though, in that the armrests cover up where the winder hole would need to be - so it won't work! you can pinch the woodbrain etc and the fabric inserts, but you can't have the padded armrests with manual winders AFAIK

correct Bob ... Stixinc go have a look at a set of futura/above door trims, you'll see what we mean. You will either need to manual cover/woodgrain your trims or upgrade to elec windows.
Orrrrrr if you are really clever you might find a way of combining the two but it would be a lot of moudling and fabric/plastic work...

ok thanks for the replies. Do you reckon its possible to put GLi arm rests on the ghia door? and then custom pad it up?

They stick thru holes in the trim then you flatten what pokes though to create a locking effect.

This is possible, you just need to sacrifice either the armrest or the map holder. If you want it for the armrest just drop the winder down a bit, if you want the map pocket, it sticks on, the winder will fit where it normally goes.
*drops two cents into jar on table*

You're going to have a hole in the trim if you use the GLi armrests, the armrest bolts into a different location into the door and trim.

By that I mean either you can add the map pocket to the GLi trims, either by attatching the map pocket part or swapping the bottom half with a higher model door trim, swap the inserts and attatch the woodgrain strips.
OR Get the Fairmont trims and remove the map holders by swapping the bottom half of the door trims with the GLi ones, and cut a hole for the manual winder.
