Hi all,
Considering swaping my auto 3dbc ecu for an auto el one, I figured it should be an easy swap seeing that the motors are pretty much the same and both use dizzys, but I can't seem to find any info about the swap. Its going to be running the stock ed motor and tranny but some time in the near future its getting converted to a bbm, I just wanna see how much better the car will run with the el ecu before I convert the intake. how are ya mate, dont put the el ecu in yet and wait till u put in the bbm manifold in.
ur car would probly over heat with out the manifold. and theres heaps of info here about el set ups in a eb/ed. i have a 1993 eb fairmont with an ef engine and trans running an el ecu. its better to wait but once you have done the conversion, its like a new car

you can fit a el ecu with the ed log manifold with out any reall trouble.."it wont over heat"
 but you will find it to be a little gutless down low, as the bbm is not there.. but to overcome this advance your ignition timing about 2-4 deg and it will run fine.. |

Thanks for the replies guys..
I was planning on changing the thermostat to a 82 or 84° one (depends what I can find in the parts shops down here) and putting in EF/L thermo fans when I change the ecu, so heat shouldn't be an issue. Hopefully ill have the bbm and a few other goodies in the car by the start of febuary, when I start the build ill post a topic over in the 6cyl workshop section Cheers

a Quick note i did this with out the bbm conversion and it chewed the fuel (like 35-40l/100km on the hgh way and even worse around town) and also my cruise control wouldnt set it would turn on but wouldnt engauge so i took it back out but got the ecu on ebay for sale if any ones interested
