hey guys,

i have an auto ef wagon that has a sports exhaust as well as extractors (going on this week or next) and i am wondering how beneficial a j3 Performance Chip would be to me as the car is only a daily however i still want something that has better response. I will be putting a custom intake pipe on it as well but i would like to know how people have found the j3 chip to be once installed.

Any comments and recommendations are welcome guys

I don't think you will feel much difference with a J3 chip with minimal modifications. Unless you decide to put an aftermarket camshaft in the long run or more modifications other than your exhaust/intake mods.

Get a J3 chip when you decide to do more mods, if not it might just be a waste of money.

Just my 2c.

you wont feel much difference unless you have a after market cam shaft and at least minimal mods for intake and exhaust

the chip generally helps tame the idle & fuel mixtures with larger cams that the factory ECU cant adjust optimately for

however with yours being an EF, the chip could be used to advance ignition timing and allow you to make use of premium fuel, so there would be some benefit there

ok well the performance plan is as follows- wade 1636 cam, 70mm throttle body, larger intake scoop, a j3, and pacemaker extractors with a highflo cat. i just want something that has a bit of poke when you need it but otherwise just looks like a nice grocery mover. the high flow cat is only an extra $70 on a normal cat- so why not.
