If it followed Fords specs at the time it would be either 60mm or Cobra spec 65mm...

ok so probably bigger than the standard and on that note is that 55mm or 58mm for a std EL XR8?
would there be much to be gained by using one of these with an AU MAF on a stocker with a full exhaust and K&N panel? cheers and thanks for your help |

Virtually have to start at the heads.. They flow that bad!! Then inlet, MAF, then imo replace the throttle body last.. Btw there wasn't much difference between std motors and the Tickfords in the V8's till the AU... SVO / SVT have had 65mm throttle body as an upgrade for years. Unless severely modified the 65mm is all you need.. With the Cobra inlet... Some mild porting around all ports especially # 1 and 5 helps in the lower inlet due to longer ports around dizzy...Explorer / E.L ll and latter manifolds are the same.. I fitted the Cobra kit in my EBXR8 not long after I bought it new. Imo the XR's should have had more grunt over the std models.. It was fitted including X3Z EEC.. With std heads.. It didn't really make any difference till I fitted some Trick Flow heads. Power went from approx 140 rwkw to 180rwkw.. The cam was changed at the time to an E303.[Crane 2030 / 2031 better option for daily driver] While the heads were off, cam changes are easier.. Due to the heads flowing bad especially the exhaust .. A GOOD exhaust especially extractors makes quite a difference and a good place to start as it needs to be done if other mods are done...

thanks for the info ebxr8! very interesting to read...
i want to start collecting some parts and do some mild top end work to the XR... the only reason i asked about the EL SVo throttle body is because someone is selling an EL TB new is a Ford SVO box so was curios is these are any bigger and worth going for over the AU ones... proabably wont do a cam at thsi stage but looking at collecting an AU MAF, T/B, explorer manifold to start with... with my current setup (EL GT extractors, high flow cats, twin 2.25 system and K&N filter) what sort of gains could i expect??? will consider GT40ps as well but probably later on... |

SVO on EL's was a dealer fit kit at southside Ford in Brisbane. Throttle Bodies are the same as standard.

Yeah I know the difference between an EL and EL2 ![]() The only "SVO" that ever crossed my mind was what 67RCE mentioned, the Southside Ford specials with the GT40 stuff and 215kW motors etc. |
