So......what i said was right all along or not??? WILL he get better fuel economy (slight as it may be) in ECO mode with an AUTO????? Is this not the question that was raised in this topic or not??? I am in disbelief that you believe that if a car revs harder in POWER mode you will get the same fuel economy as with it in ECO mode! MITCHY

DARTHVADER your mistaken, if that is so then theirs something wrong with your car. if you were still in third at 100km/h you would be revving over 2500rpm, you realize if anything the torque converter locks up earlier in normal mode compared to econ, and when in econ mode its less happy to down gear, making normal mode more economical when cruising.. either way theirs a wombats piss difference between the two modes if driving mormally Hi again 4dlvr. I think what i am trying to say is that the Auto shifts all the way to 4th....at say 100kmh i lift my foot and settle in for a trip. Now shortly after that a (a few seconds maybe more) so long as you hold your foot steady. The engine will drop a few revs again. Like i said earlier only a few maybe 100 or something. This i have been told is the Auto locking up the convertor, basically giving you an extra gear. When you are in POWER mode this action does not happen. So your revs are up slightly. Hope this helps you understand what i am trying to say. I have spoken to a FORD mechanic on this he explained that way to me. I have driven 2 other AU S3 I6 an the autos behave the same. I have no knowledge of the workings of earlier Autos in the falcons IE: E series sorry. But can find out. MITCHY power/econ button makes no difference to engine revs @ 100km on my AU2 driven properly i can return the same fuel consumption in 'econ' and in 'normal'. |

With a 3.08 diff, around 1850rpm@100 in top with the converter locked. Just took it down geelong/melb freeway past the speed checker things and it said I was doin 98km when my speedo was on 100.. Gps says 98-99.. Got a pict of the speedo/tacho but can't attach it?? No idea what the diff is the car is a stocker apart from ea intake tube.. Anyway, Darthvader, if your just driving down the highway at a constant speed it shouldn't make a difference, the only thing the normal econ switch changes is the shift points when your acellerating.. I believe that's what should happen anyway
