My wb seems to rev funny. When I turn the air con on, change gears or accelerate ever so slightly then back of the revs drop to almost zero. It has never turned off but the revs needle goes down all the wayang then bounces back up to normal. Apart from this the idle is perfect and out doesn't do anything else that's strange. Would this be my TPS sensor or idle controller??
Cheers guys

The first thing to look at is the Idle Control Solenoid (ICS) on top the throttle body. They do fail, but are also known to stick. You can start by taking it off, squirting some WD40 in the holes, drying it a bit, and then putting it back on.
If that does not work, try some second hand ones, but you can buy new ones still. Cheers BenJ

One thing I found out with my ED is that you can run the ICS both ways.....One way (the plug/wires facing away from the motor) actually increases revs a bit.

No the ICS is different on the Log Manifold EB-ED to the ICS on the BBM Manifold EF-EL.
Cheers BenJ

first check the base idle....
- clean the throttle body and butterfly with carby cleaner and a rag - disconnect the ISC - start the engine, and adjust the throttle stop screw on the throttlebody until its idling around 600rpm - reconnect the ISC and see how it behaves it could also be your tacho thats out. What rpm does it usually show when its idling ok? |
