yep, engine mount. I didnt know the AUs had "hydrolic type" (his words) engine mounts, and I thought they were the old rubber type. Anyway, mechanic said LH is slightly collapsed, which could account for the rough idle too. Any idea how much I should be paying for the mount and where's the best place to buy them, and should I replace both? He said about 1hr a side to do. Is what I was told accurate?
cheers

I think one side is alot easier to do than the other, pretty sure the LH side would be the harder one to do.
If you are handy with the tools just do it yourself.
Repco etc should have them in stock. Try Ford for many laughs.

yeah, I think ford was over $350 for the LH side mount. I was dubious because the mechanic said a new mount might not fix the problem. So I will get another opinion. I do think it needs replacing as the car idles rought and has a slight shake in the cab stopped at the lights. Cant be bothered doing it myself dude, after messing around with my GTO for a year, and I really dont mind paying a few hundred to have it done. I was just curious to see if anyone else here had it done and how much it was.

cheers for that dudes. I didnt get a chance to do any ringing around today. I will look into it next week. I think the mechanic said the mount from repco or somewhere was 200bucks and $88 to fit.

Have you replaced the front radius rod bushes? Mine are shot and I get a lot of clunks from the front end.

yeah, yours might be the older rubber type. like i posted here, my apparently are liquid filled (mechanic quoted "hydrolic").

I haven't replaced much. I haven't had the car long. All the front end looks pretty new. I will know more soon enough when I get a second opinion.

hi again
knock noise seems to have dissappeared, but now have noise turning hard left, like a bearing noise. Wheel bearing possibly? Doesn't appear to have any movement in the wheel while jacked up. Do you know what else could make that noise?
