hi ,
I am replacing the rear rotors and pads on an au1, the caliper/bracket and the rotor screw have been removed but the rotor just wont budge. is a puller required to remove the rotor off the hub? thanks gem.

Did you disconnect the handbrake cables?

a bit of wd40 on the centre of the hub helps, as there is usually a rust layer stopping the rotor from comming off the axle..
and yea if your hand brake is adjusted up tight it can make it difficult to get the rotor off aswell.. or is the hand brake actuall off??? |

TROYMAN wrote: a bit of wd40 on the centre of the hub helps, as there is usually a rust layer stopping the rotor from comming off the axle.. and yea if your hand brake is adjusted up tight it can make it difficult to get the rotor off aswell.. or is the hand brake actuall off??? give that man a new! yes i did not release the handbrake prior , although it did eventually click to try and release the handbrake before taking to it with a hammer. the rear brakes on this car have really amazed me in that anyone could drive it in this condition. the right rear had no meat on the pads at all, down to the backing plate only, the rotor was rusty and 1/3rd of the thickness of a new one, but worst of all it has seperated from the main part. the left side pads had sufficient meat but the locating screw was missing, so the rotor had been held by the pads. as of today it now rides on new rda rotors, new bendix pads and 17" BF XR8 rims. and thanks for the replies gents.
