Hey guys even since i have had my EB i have had these black marks on the bonnet and the boot lid. If i cut and polish them, they fade to the point where you cant see them until the car gets dirty again. Also if i rub my finger across it, its come off a little, but i have to rub really hard !
By peaandham, shot with FinePix A600 at 2010-01-14 What is it and how to i get rid of it ?

Could be the stuff from the tar after a new road has been made. It's b**ch to get off specially with a white car its stand out. But it should of come out with a good polish.

Tried clay barring?
Should get rid of the black marks you talk about.

Looks like the clear coat has been worn through to the base colour, and judging by the circular motion on the boot lid, you are probably using the wrong polish.
The paint is basically stuffed, once metallics have lost their gloss, there is really nothing that can be done to fix it other than repainting.

Could be UV damage. usually it's something you see on a car thats parked out in the open all it's life or maybe it never gets a regular wax and polish from day one.

Try warm soapy water on the black stuff, If it smudges get tar remover. Try clay bar but the actual clay bar. Boot looks like clear coat skin cancer It kinda looks like a buffer caused the problem.

Before i Bought my falcon i had a celica with these same black marks you have. I'd say its tar. Cut and polish gets rid of it straight away.
