hi guys, i was playing in the engine bay of the wagon today, and found myself looking at the "sausage" that comes off the side of the air intake, and i have absolutely no idea what it does.

so, what does it do? (i did do a search but nothing of use came up)

make sure you block the hole it leaves though, a centre car from a factory wheel is a perfect fit

MAF is before it, so any extra air after the maf and it *may* run lean

Just had a look at your build thread and your's doesn't have one as you are running LPG and the intake piping is slightly different..

But it looks like this..

It has nothing to do with cabin noise. It is for tuning the resonance of the inlet system.

The sausage / donut/ dog turd does allegedly reduce cabin / induction noise ( resonance as in resonator) (tuning as in quietening) but they look s**t and should be removed - a toch-up spray can lid also fits but they are a bit flimsy now!

No, resonance as in inlet tract wave tuning. ie; when the throttle is suddenly closed the back pulse is damped by the extra volume of the dog turd. This way there are less severe back pulses through the MAF.
