Hey, i have a couple of questions about high stall convertors!
what advantages are there to having a high stall converter, does it give you a better launch without having to hold the brake and just planting your foot?? Does it make much of a difference on a stock car?? Essentially i have an auto au and money doesnt allow for a manual conversion so i am trying to get what ever possible out of the auto! I want better of the mark "go" rather than it being as sluggish as it is!! i have a 3" intake, getting jmm race series extractor next week (along with mandrel 2.5" system and 100cfm cat) and i am also looking at getting a shift kit and tranny cooler kit! Any info would be greatly appreciated! Nathan

high stall is better suited for an aftermarket cam, as you want the stall rpm within 700rpm of where the engine makes its peak torque. Bigger cams make torque later in the rev range, where a stock cam makes torque earlier and is better suited for the stock stall
Ive got a 2500-2800rpm stall, and its pretty much useless on the street if i stomp the pedal because it just spins the wheels, but i assume it would come in handy with better tyres or on a sticky dragstrip |
