I need a replacement bolt for one side of the stabiliser bar U bracket... does anyone happen to know the dimensions for the bolt so I can replace it?
Cheers.

Hey guys... I need some advice, the bracket which holds the driver side of the stabiliser bar has come off... it stripped the hole from one side of the bracket, so obviously the bolt doesn't screw in there...
The bar clunks around on the car frame when ever I go over a minor bump... larger bumps produce quite an audible bang. Can the hole be re-tapped to a bigger size without much trouble??? I've never used a tap before, is it a relatively easy job? Also.. will driving around f**k my car up even more without the bracket on??!?!?!??!

Yes driving with 1 bolt will damage both the bracket and the other bolt hole The best advice is to get a COMPETENT mechanic to insert a Helicoil so you can use the original size bolt and get a bolkt from the wreckers or a bolt shop ( tale the remaining bolt as a sample

Will do... off to the wreckers tomorrow morning...
The bar itself has bent the U bracket, so Im gonna have to grab one of those as well... I don't know about finding a competent mechanic, Im sick of paying mechanical bills...

this happened to me as well. my mechanic retapped the hole since it was stripped and put in new bolts
While he was doing that i opted to get the stabiliser bar bushes replaced with nolathane ones and the linkages as well. |

First you should simply try getting a NEW bolt (run a tap the right size thru the hole first) - I don't mean another bolt from the wreckers either - get a brand spanker from Ford.
With any luck the new bolt will grip ok and you'll be right - if that doesn't work then you'll be up for getting amechanic to fix it - ie. helicoil or enlarged bolt and retapped thread.

Ok, to wrap it up... Went to the wrekers and got 2 brackets and 4 bolts from other EA's for $10.
Degreased them and cleaned the bolts up, gave them to MIDAS at Bowen Hills (Brissy) and they put it all back together. They had to oxy. out one of the previous bolts as it was still stuck in there. But its all in again... and that cost me $50. Total cost of job. $60 and a happy me again.
