The main differences were cosmetic between EF/EL. For the most part, they were interchangeable.
The main difference wass the level of the cluster - as in low (GLi/futura), mid (XR/police/fairmont) and high (fairlane). The fairmont while looking the same as the XR, was different in the way that the light dimming operated. Check the tech doco for all of the differences

As for other differences, the dash looms are different between EF and EL and are not interchangeable.
There are two ways to go about this. 1. Get a complete donor car, and transfer ALL the wiring looms, from the engine bay, dash, and body into your EB. Read RD's EDL thread or find PIMP_LTD's Thread. 2. Do what I did and modify a box car dash loom to interface with the EL controls, and build adapters to allow the cluster and climate control modules to operate, along with a bunch of other adjustments. Allow for at least 7 days, and if there are issues maybe longer to complete the task. Regardless of how you go about this, you will need the dash, console, carpet, and under console supports from a car. Cheers BenJ
