Hi all...
I know there was someone who was making after market equivalents of the CAM (Code Analysis Module) tester by Ford. Does anyone know who it was or have wiring diagrams for one as I'd like to build myself one (they go a ridiculous amount on ebay) just thought I might be able to do one on the cheap... I know its not overly complicated... One of the pins is just grounded in pulses to get a code... But these are much easier... I'd do something myself but I thought seeing someone has already done the hard yards and no longer seem to make them anymore maybe they'd give/sell me the designs... Cheers, Tim

I've made my own - all you need is a gregory's manual.
An EF BEM plug will fit the diagnosis connector. I have toggle switches on a small box for the codes, base timing, ABS, Airbag and fuel pump, and a LED to flash the codes. Muzza made the units, a search should find the thread.

thanks for that I thought someone on here must have made them before... I see them on ebay and I thought I might be able to make one cheaper than that... Yours has no LED display? Would you be able to email me any info you have on the pin outs of this plug and what needs to be done to obtain readings so I can design something myself... Any specs, pin outs, tricks, tips would be greatly appreciated... Thanks, Tim

I was more after the challenge of building something more complex with an easy to read display, much the same as what Muzza built... He has been telling me about how his works and which road I need to take do one myself... Its a road in electronics I haven't taken before so maybe its something worthwhile doing and learning... See how I go... if it's too far over my head I might buy one of his... Regards, Tim

Found a thread one here with the pin outs... I don't have a Gregory's manual... Something with a display is a little over my head, I might just buy one anyway...

The car dashboard is actually a data display itself (the temperature and RPM for example), connected to a data line on the ECU, so there is live data available, just not sure how much... |
