Hi all bit of a newbie here. Just wondering before I go pulling the dash apart on my EF XR6. Did they come out standard with the appropriate wiring looms to be able to put climate control in where the manual heating/fan switches are and same question for trip computer where the clock is?

Nope.

They didn't have either. Although the climate control is pretty much a standalone unit, you need the whole dash out as you have to edit the heater box. Please look at documents.php?d=8 and also it is a good idea to have a hunt around the Technical Documents section of the site...

You will also find the answer to your other question there in this link documents.php?d=32

I have upgraded my Futura (same as your XR6 pretty much) to Fairmont or Fairlane everything on the internals and can safely say that pulling the dash out is a good learning experience. Very worthwhile.

To run a trip computer rather than EF clock you only need to run one extra wire from your instrument cluster to the clock area, which can be done by just taking stereo out and removing the fascia that runs from stereo to instrument cluster.

All good Schombro, best of luck with it.
