Hey all,
my clutch is gettin real slippery and needs replacement. Has anyone replaced a clutch on an ef before? I was thinking about buying the parts online, then going to a shop to get them to fit it. Anyone know of a good brand for clutches? or part numbers for the originals?

cheers

Many people have replaced clutches on here, pretty simple job but you really want 2 or maybe 3 people for putting the box in and pulling it out just to make life easy on yourself.

Seeing as most workshops make a lot of their money from the parts they sell you may have a little trouble finding one to fit your supplied clutch.

You can get stock clutches from PBR, Valeo, Exedy etc.

I replaced mine yesterday, I bought an "Xtreme" Heavy Duty from HighTek Brakes.

It takes around 2-3 hours to replace a clutch yourself when the car is on stands.

A single individual can remove and install the gearbox if your quite strong, otherwise use a jack to assist.

Highly Recommended to remove the flywheel and re-surface it for around $30
however this will set you back 1 day to machine it, unless you have a spare one floating around.

Picture of how to install a new clutch pressure plate.
Either use an old Input shaft or Buy a plastic clutch plate aligner for around $10, place all items together and slide in the dummy shaft and hold it straight whilst you slowly tighten the pressure plate evenly.

Flywheel Bolts tighten to 100 - 115Nm around *73-84ft.lbs*
Clutch pressure plate Bolts: 27Nm *20ft.lbs*
Tail Shaft Bolts: 75Nm *55ft.lbs*
