For a Manual Conversion on an EL falcon I need

Gearbox,
Pedalbox,
Flywheel,
Clutch/Pressure Plate/Clutch Cable,
ECU,

What am I missing.....
How much would you members think that the parts would cost me? I was quoted 1700 for the full conversion from Athol Park Ford Wreckers or 1250 for the parts. 1500 with the Tickford ECU.
Around the mark or a bit much?

only thing i can see missing is the gearbox wiring loom. i got my conversion kit for $900 and it was s**t, gearbox was stuffed and the clutch cable was that stiff that it bent my pedal box. so ur probably better off spending a bit more and hopefully get a decent one.

That was with a 2nd hand clutch and pressure plate i believe. If/when i get it done Ill use a brand new clutch cable, clutch pressure plate and maybe flywheel.

yea was a second hand cable, found a brand new clutch on the back seat of a car :D, so me and the bloke that was helping me get the parts bolted it onto the flywheel while his boss wasn't looking. make sure that the gearbox is in good enough condition tho, i bought another gearbox to replace the s**t one i got with the conversion kit, long story short the input shaft bearing seized, snapped the bellhousing and broke a few other things, including the free clutch . i do have some pics somewhere of it if you wonna see?
it only takes a few minutes to check and saves so much time and money in the future.

Tomo

Yea Sure mate, knowledge is power as they say.
Still trying to decide if its worth keeping and changing to manual or buying a nice AU/BA..
Mine currently has broken passenger and drivers side vents, Drivers side mirror, front bumper needs replacing, rear bumper is warped, gearbox is a bit meh and the air con needs a bit of work...

Only done 200,000 clicks and its in otherwise good nick but thats a lot of work to still have an el Futura with a gas tank in the back.

suppose it comes down to how much you love your car? mine currently needs.......
engine rebuild
gearbox rebuild
diff rebuild
roof resprayed (clearcoat is peeling)
aircon regass
ect, ect.....
but i fell in love with my car and i dont want to let it go. although i am blessed by the fact that i can do most of the work myself so i can spend that extra cash on some engine and gearbox upgrades

Thats the other thing, If I was going to do the work myself and learn I would rather do it on an Escort or a Cortina. OR the Celica that I had but someone hit it when it was innocently parked out the front of my house.... RA65 2.4L fuel injected Manual with IRS... SO much fun. Wanted to put a 2l turbo in it..

Aww well. I love my big falcons now, I love dads BA XR6 though lol.
Really though I just want a manual, sick of Autos.

You can get a better deal for a manual conversion if you look around more. I picked mine up for $550 including an EF ECU...sold the ECU, sold my auto box and came out with $600...so I made a bargain in that department. I used the resistor trick to get my car going...didn't want to pay the odd $400 for an EL Manual ECU at the time. $2.00 of resistors did the trick just fine.

Also you're missing bell housing...assuming it is separated from the gearbox.
