Hey guys,
Below is a pitcure of an intake im looking at getting made it will be 100mm stainless pipeing that narrows down to 80mm piping which will be attached to an 80mm ss induction throttle body. It will have a 100mm pod filter on the end of it. Just was wondering if its worth spending the extra dosh having the pipe starting at 100mm or should i just get 80mm the whole way. I'm also planning on making my own CAI box. Its for a BA V8 mont. Thanks My plans Attachment: intakdesign.JPG [ 9.86 KiB | Viewed 1824 times ] My inspiration Attachment:

If you focus on the right pod filter, you will find that you wont need the 100mm section. Get a good K&N that has an internal radius on the rubber flange. Cheap pods wont have this, but keep looking until you get the right one. I used such a filter on a DIY cold air intake on my BA XR8 and it picked up some good power. The intake that you have shown in the photo is a proven way of getting more power out of your 3V, especially the rubber elbow at your throttle body.
I wouldn't worry about the aftermarket throttle body. Yours will get you to the maximum NA power achievable from a 3V. |

Already got the throttle body lol, got it off ebay for $300. Might just go for the straight 80mm pipe then. Am i right in assuming the more surface area on the filter the better. I am definatley getting a K&N filter its just a matter of which one. I'm going to measure it all up i tomorrow and see was size filter would be easy to fit.

hey mate, you want the filter with the highest CFM, as it will have less restriction trying to breathe. Adding the 100mm on the end will cost you more than you're likely to gain, but an easy way to test this would be to have the end cut off and have a silicon joiner than can swap the pod end from 80mm to 100mm and vice versa.

Nothing wrong with that design, used a very similar one on a Courier 2.6 EFI.
You will need that 100mm cone...gets air speed up, and provides volume for snappy throttle response....personal expirience. Go for it.
