Hey
Ive recently purchased a au falcoon on gas.The previous owner said it need a tune cause it had no power. so i went and got it tuned he said the tune was fine it made no difference really at all.It takes around 60 secs to get to 100. goes up semi steep hills at like 50-60 kph just has no real go at all. So i need some ideas and opinions on what it could be it is so slow ! I think it could maybe be the converter gas guy didnt think it would be ??? Maybe timming ?? what else could it be the car has new coil pack leads and plugs Also onl got around 120 ks to 28l of gas cheers |

first step would be to check compression.
is it down on power on petrol also? what gas system are you running? how many ks on the driveline (including engine)? tune plays a huge part on how gas perfoms, but you wont be able to play with the tune much without some form of ecu. playing with the gas settings can still provide some form of drivability or economy increase at least...

180 across all cylinders
Its factory straight gas has a different converter on it not standard one cars done 500 thousand 200 thousdand on engine and trans i Dint think gas had ecu ? its use huge amounts of gas but is so slow redicolously |

factory straight gas will def have an ecu - well it has a different map.
but i was mainly getting at the fact that you cant change your spark mapping without an ecu upgrade. but if its chewing through the gas then the gas system could use a tune up. im not 100% sure how the factory gas stuff works, so maybe someone else can help with that, but its quite common for gas setups to have a simple ecu that uses for oxygen sensor (and few other sensors) to drive a stepper motor that will help meter the gas going into the mixer. what brand and model converter is fitted? sometimes changing converters can cause exactly what you are explaining as it might not suit your mixer.

Unless ur ecu has fried and ur spark timing is WAYYY wrong. sound like the timing is retarded if it was an older car but since the compression is there its gotta be electrical. Unless ur cat converter is seriously blocked preventing the exhaust to come out and choking the motor. Is the auto trans in limp mode? this will make it feel like its taking off in 3rd |

It could be timing related, does it ever back fire thru the intake or go "bang" thru the exhaust? Do you know if the o2 sensor is working properly? If not, you will be running mega rich. You sure the car doesn't have any vacume leaks? That too will cause poor economy.
What sort of spark plugs are in it & what gap are you running? Cheers TranaGuy
