Went to Pit Stop's today to get my exhuast looked at. Ever since ive had my Pacemaker headers put in the tone/sound of my exhaust has changed both for the better and the worst.
On idle/mild reving its sounds really airy (like its hard to describe) but basically the tone of the exhaust on idle almost sounds fluttery like a little or 4cyl with a hole in its muffler. But up higher in the rev range (say upwards of 2000rpm) it sounds fkn awesome the car has a real strong sound with no drone and very lumpy. So the guy checked it out and thinks that its nothing to do with the muffler/cat/resonator/headers or piping of my exhaust system. he actually thinks it has something to do with my exhaust tip?? I have one of those SS bombdore oval tips (yes i know but they look good). ive never had any problems with it prior to having the new headers thou... The car will be put up on the lift tommorrow to get the tip removed to see if thats what he claims the problem to be.. But i seem scepticle about this.. i still think its the resonator or muffler. What does everyone else think? Thanks Andrew

my old man just got a 2 1/2 on his AU on the weekend and got a twin exhaust tip and it makes a whistling noise on medium to hi revs but that aside it still sounds beefy. So the exhaust tips can make noise.

Yeah its just weird thou because it never used to make that noise prior to the new headers being put on?? even the guy at the exhaust shop said to me ive never heard a Falcon idle like that before

Tip will make no difference unless its a dumper (as it reverberates off the ground/car body).
Your exhaust guy is a d**k. If it has a hole in the system it can sound fluttery because of low air speed (idle). It can also sound like crap if one of your muffler boxes has called it quits and collapsed. |

big oval tips can make a f@rt/flutter noise i had one on my car ages ago and cut that f**k straight off, same as single tips that split into twin tips make a similar flutter at idle
just get a single 3" plain stainless tip |

Haha yeah well aaahh i just got the oval tip taken off, the car still made that noise, but i put a new tip on ne ways. (double barrel shotgun style).
But bad news is the exhaust guy thinks that the exhaust gasket has something to do with the noise.. But he reckons he cant tell because my lifters are fair noisey.. So looks like i gotta get a set of lifters replaced sooner than expected.

Yeah fair dodgy hey..He said thiers no point in wasting money on new mufflers etc etc if the noise is still thier. He just suggested i get the lifters fixed up. Also i think i meant the exhaust valves not gasket sorry...lol
