What exactly does the climate control use the sun load sensor for?
The reason i ask is the dash mat in my car completely covers the sun load sensor, I would like to know how this would affect my CC.

The CC uses the sun sensor to work out how hard it needs to work. During the day the sun adds a lot of heat to your interior and the CC will compensate for that using the sensor. At night the heat load is reduced a lot so the CC won't work as hard.
If your car is feeling warm on hot days it's probably because the CC thinks its operating at night and not cranking up enough. Just cut a hole in the dash mat big enough for the sun load sensor to work through.

Thanks for the quick reply,
AC still works fine on a hot day, I do intend to cut a hole in the mat, as soon as I make up a wad punch. I was just wondering whether it was worth the effort.
