has anyone ever run extractors, high flow cats, a twin system with only one hotdog on each side on a windsor?

also generally speaking when talking high flow mufflers does smaller mean louder?

even with el gts, high flows, twin system with one muffler on each side, i heard a statesman (VS) go past yesterday, mine sounded better but his was just soo much louder than mine and his was a single system

on my 99 xr8 it started with a single redback 2.5in with a hotdog and a resinator at the rear and it was very quiet so i unbolted the rear section dumping it at the rear wheels so it only had the 1 hotdog and it sounded good but had a little drone
so i ditched it for a second hand dual 2.25 with a single small centre/side straight through muffler each side and no balance pipe and it was still quiet
so i replaced the mufflers with a single hotdog each side and it sounds good but crackles and backfires alot but no drone and sounds great in the car, outside the car under full throttle it scares people but sounds crackly so i might put a balance pipe in next
i have a tfs1 cam so it idles very tough
in the end i might just get one of those 3in s/s sytems off ebay for $1400 one day

great info thanks, yeah mine is the same as your first twin system, center in side out on each side and its too quiet.

i think i might go for a hotdog on each side, i already have the balance pipe so that shouldnt be a problem

did yuo find it wasnt as deep or the note cahnged alot when you went to hot dogs?

thanks mate

its very deep and sounds good inside the car but its also crisp and tinny outside the car which the balance pipe should fix. i'l like to hear lukey race muffler on it though. i only went hotdog due to price

well I had it changed. I ended up going for the middle ground, I put a 10inch resinator on each side, so quieter than a hotdog but louder than a straight through muffler, im thrilled!

loud enough to make you smile, sounds great when you put your boot into it and no real drone at all. i would say its about 40% louder than my old system which is exactly what i wanted

thanks for all the input

if it has audible bark, crackle, and white noise then it will sound loud but s**t.

deep V8 bellow is what an 8 should sound like unless it a drag strip queen running 10's with dropped pipes
