HI,
I have an XH ute XR6 and have had some one fix my hand brake but it still will not release when it is used, atm I am not using it as it will not release fully when you take it off. Does anyone know what it could be or if there is a quick fix solution ie upgrade to a later model hand brake or something? Thanks |

Check that the cable is not over-tightened. Or you could have a sticky caliper, which could cause it. I know that is what mine is doing, must fix that one day.....

The forward cable can break over time when the handbrake is pulled hard regularly.
It can first birdcage around the pulley that redirects it through the front floor, causing it to bind up. Quickest bandaid fix is to back off the adjustment underneath the drivers floor, and if necessary disconnect it. Test the car, and make sure the rear pads aren't dragging on the rear discs - the wheel rims will get quite hot otherwise, amongst other things.
