Changing diff centres IS NOT a DIY job. There are specialist tools and skills needed to do this correctly. Those that have had a go usually find they have a lovely diff whine after a few months and have now ruined the crownwheel and pinion.

Talk to your local diff specialist about how much it will cost to swap the centres.

There should be a tag on the diff centre back plate that has the diff ratio stamped on it.

Another option is to cut all the coil spring brackets off the sedan diff, and weld on the leaf spring platforms and brackets.

For the price and availability of ford rear axles and diffs just get a new one from the wreckers. If its noisy just get another one.

So get one out of a ute. It's not hard to convert over the hand brake to EF-on if you have to. For EA-ED wagons, a XH ute diff should go straight in, and most are 3.23 and LSD. :D

You don't need to find an ABS equipped diff.

You can swap your backing plates and axles into the donor LSD housing and TADA!!!
