Hi Guys

My friend has a BA XR6 Turbo Ute his got a rattling exhaust and wants to improve his engine note as well. So his thinking of lukey as he knows they make a pretty good sound. Does anyone have any suggestions what he should replace his exhaust with, where he should go to do it (in perth) and how much he should be expected to pay?

Thanks folks

Brad

Depending on turbo and power levels??
A bigger dump pipe off turbine doesn't hurt...
Works like a collectors on extractors...

What exactly is rattling?

If its just a smashed muffler replace it with a straight pipe and the note will be changed to a deeper note which sounds pretty good. It isn't too drony and doesn't make the barra sound like a wet f@rt which most exhausts do.

If you go a full exhaust be carefull how free flowing it is. For example a 3inch dump off the turbo and a straight thru 3inch exhaust with no mufflers sounds awesome but gave really bad boost spikes. The internal gate can't handle the 3inch dump very well. Not such a good thing.

havent got a before and after dyno print out but when i used to put the foot down it would come on boost like a standard turbo would and boost pretty hard... but as soon as the new exhaust went on if you bury the foot the revs pick up and around
3500rpm it breaks traction and then chirps into second gear(4 speed auto) thats with the 20 inch rims with 245s

its most likely a heat shield rattling on the exhaust.. try putting some big hose clamps around it.
the stock exhaust isn't to bad you just need a high flow cat. mine is running 326rwkw with a high flow cat and stock exhaust.
if he does upgrade the whole thing he'll need the wastegate opened up so it doesn't overboost.
