freakersis wrote: But what is Snort Performance on about? They talk about bolt on kits and a pre-tuned j3 chip for there setup for around the $3300 area? Thought that was all that was needed after the turbo kit install? Was that their Stage 2 kit? From memory that kit was around 3k, so the extra $300 or so would probably be the cost of the j3 chip with a 'tune' put on it.. Things you might want to think about with those snort kits: There will also be extra costs in getting pipe work sorted as i'm pretty sure Snort kits don't come with any piping. There could also be other things needed that aren't included in the kits, e.g. rising rate fuel reg, pump, injectors etc. Snort may be able to supply these, but they are not included in the list of parts in the turbo kits, so most likely they will be extra expenses. As for the j3 chip tune, i wouldn't be relying on that tune to safely run the engine after the kit has been installed. That tune would just be a generic tune that would work with the turbo kit and any other mods done to your car - you would be far better off taking it to a tuner ASAP and get a custom tune performed on a dyno where it can be tuned properly. I'm not bagging the snort kits out, just saying that if you go that route, be prepared to have extra money in your wallet to cover extra expenses |

We all know about Snort Performance, but the kit you mentioned for $3300 with a pretuned J3 chip is not listed on the website.
I wanted to see what was included with the kit. What I do know is that of the build threads I have read where they have installed a Snort, or other brand kit, the base purchase price for the parts is only the begining, and typically have spent double the initial cost of the kit to get the car to the stage of being turn key reliable for everyday use. And that was doing most of the spanner work themselves. The parts purchased in the kit are usually fine, but it is all the bits on your car that suddenly need uprating or replacing due to the extra demands being placed on them. Just be aware you WILL need deeper pockets than the initial purchase price. Good Luck. BenJ

Yeah i know it's not listed on there. The bloke at the joint told me himself that it would cost $300 for a pre-tuned j3 chip to suit his kit so i just added it up that's all..
I'll see you guys on Friday night. I'll come have a chat to you BenJ. Cheers |
