My BTR is on it's way out, and I'm not too keen on putting another one in. These boxes seem to do a good job in the FPV's, so why not retro-fit?

It's pretty clear that they need to be fed by CANBUS, and no doubt the best option would be using a Falcon PCM. Plenty of other manufacturers are sporting the same model auto (ZF 6HP26).It's actually quite funny to see the humble Ford Falcon among names such as Maserati, BMW, Jaguar and err.. Kia? wtf. :)

Anyway - I'm looking for any information that might be out there regarding these boxes - are there aftermarket TCU's, is there a way of emulating a CANBUS based on my EEC-V, can I feed the required inputs into a BA-FG PCM, do some edits and hope that it will control the ZF? Maybe you have other ideas..

Let me know - very keen !!!

I looked into doing this when I was converting from manual to auto. I was looking for a tough box to handle a fair bit of power (even though a stock ZF can handle 350rwkw), but in the end it would have cost the same to put a built T400 or C4 in...(so I went with a BTR, no I can't make sense of it either) But if you just want a smooth shifting box it'd be good for you. There's a guy who put one in a BA XR6T, alot easier than what you're trying to do but it was still fairly hard, do a search on the xr6turbo forums he's got a bit of info there.

The only reason I haven't upgraded to a BF LTD is because they're not as nice inside - so that would kinda defeat the purpose! :)

needfordspeed; thanks - I'll have a look over there and see what I can find. I really don't want to go down the C4 route, I want more gears, not less. I know I can spend a few bucks on the BTR and end up with a good strong box, but if I can get a ZF in there, it'd be well worth the bucks.

Thanks guys :)
