will an el ecu (preferably XR6) plug straight into an ED. if not are there any that are interchangable with this model car. thank-you

You'll lose your trip computer I think, and I don't think EL's run as much timing from Idle to about 3700 as EA-ED ECU's because of the BBM - so you may (or may not) lose a little bit of bottom end.
But to answer you question, yeah it'll plug straight in and work no worries. |

Yes, the EL ECU will plug straight into an ED and it will run no problems - BUT the EL ECU is designed specifically to work with the BroadBand Manifold. I don't know for sure if there's some sort of fault mode it will go into if it detects absence of BBM and Knock Sensor (ie. that results in reduced performance) but I know for certain that compared to a proper ED ECU the engine will feel down on power - at least that's what I found.
Feel free to try it - you won't damage anything - as I said, the EL ECU will plug right in and the engine will function fine - you'll just have to determine whether it's any better than the original ED ECU.

thanks for that, i dont really have the cash for experimentng it was just a thought as i may have to replace my existing ecu as it may not be working correctly. thanks again
