I decided having the next two days off it would be a good time to switch out my Ef headeck for my JVC one, How ever once past the ash tray lining, i discover what i like to call Spastic Screws.

The ones with a star on the and you can get a flat head at them due to the raised bit in the center of the head, Suggestions on removing these? Or do i have to buy a bloody tool for it? And will i come across these type of screws anywhere else in the car?

Cheers Frankie

Hey mate,

What you call "Spatic Screws" are actually "Torx Screws". They are only on the headunit to stop people stealing it.

Go down to super cheap and get a full set, they do come in handy.

Now that i think of it they are also used for the seat mounting screws and the seat belts aswell.

Supercheap and the like have them, theyre TORX bits. Basically allen keys with a star head, and a hollow for the little dot on the end of the screw.

Cheers boys, I knew they would have a name, I've just not encountered them often enough to learn it and learn the correct way of dealing with them :P

Thanks for the super quick responses!

I have drilled them out before when I couldn't be bothered finding the torx bits.

Just a buy a set of tamperproof bits, infinitely useful as Ford used them on everything.
