Shifteh wrote: also its an xr6 block How may times.. There's no difference between standard and XR blocks. Do you happen to have a XR6 cigarette lighter that I can buy off you? I really want to get a sporty Tickford one to replace the standard ones I have ATM. Chuck it in the Hyundai Getz's boot and take it to the shop.

dont jump to conclusions...
black smoke = always petrol running too rich. if the rings are f**k it will pour out blue smoke only. oil in the intake is 90% of the time from a faulty PCV valve. did you do a compression test? that is the only way of knowing the rings are f**k without pulling the pistons out...

I do things properly so i get it bored out with bigger piston from hypatec which im under the impression they still provide a high comp piston.
Or u can buy yourself a low km AU engine and throw that in

To know if it needs a rebore and new pistons, you would have strip it down and measure the bores size, tapper and ovality. you would also need to inspect the pistons for wear on the skirts and in the ring lands. if the bores ALL measure up with in tolerance and the psitons check out ok, you could just have it honed to remove the glazing and fit new rings. You would also need to inspect and measure the crank chances are it would just need a linish and new bearings of the same size.
You really should have just bought a complete running engine and stuck it in. As you seem to be in over your head here. |
