Just wanted to know what you guys thought, Would i need a full respray, Or would just touch ups do?
Theres just the plain old scratches from life like Drivers door where previoius owners have missed the lock with the key and left a mark or 5 thousand, Under the front bumber where they had no regard for speedbumps, or the rise at the end of a parking space, A few nicks here and there on the sides where it looks like people parked next to it hit have hit it with their doors, And some scratches on the roof i believe where made by aliens as i can't come up with an explination for them. Also one side mirror looks like it has come off a White EF and hasnt been painted properly and looks nasty. I want to keep the original dark green or what ever its called, I've seen some beautiful painted and worked bodies on this site, But im a huge fan of the pure stock looking XR. Can anyone suggest a few places in Adelaide worth ringing around too? I want to get these scratches gone and get her all spick n shiny again Frankie

Explanation for scratches on the roof.
Womans handbag, females have a bad habit of putting their bags on the roof while they unlock the car, especially if using keys to access. the little buckles and buttons and general fancy s**t on these oversized carryalls is renowned for scratching s**t up.

That could very well be it, The marks are central in the roof tho, Not like at the edges, I thought maybe bird s**t was left on it too long and its made this funny looking effect? I'll see if i can get a snapshot of it.

I have no idea whats even used or how to use, But if someone wants to explain im more then happy to learn You'll need an air spray gun, an air compressor powerful enough to run it, an inline pressure regulator with water filter, and of course some way of getting the existing paint off. You'll probably be best off sanding the areas you're going to respray, AFAIK you won't need to prime it as long as you don't sand all the paint off I'd ask someone else about the prime issue though, 'cos I've heard that it's sometimes required depending on what type the existing paint is. But I may be remembering incorrectly or heard some BS..

i was going to respray mine, but I decided agenst it for the fact that its so easy to completly stuff it up.
I did a whole respray in the factory everglade green because every panel had an issue of some sort. so it now matches. |
