Hey guys heres the history : 95 ef fairmont running a worked au motor (manual)
brand new radiator, anti freeze/boil PROPER glycol coolant, new water pump, new 82 degree thermostat and she still heats up in traffic. Now what im thinking is i have f**k fans because they don't come on untill redline (never reaches there anyway). I have replaced the relays with other second hand ones and still the same issue..when i run out the j3chip (which means fans are on high all the time) the car stays cool always.. so do i replace my fans? or could it be something else? |

if when the fans are on constantly it stays cool, its not fan related.. it sounds like its trigger related, as in the ecu is triggering the relays to late, so i would say its either the ecu or the j3..
afaik the fan trigger temp can be modified via the j3..? i assume your using an auto ecu in the manual with the j3?? as a test remove the j3, fit the resistor for the trans temp so the fans are controled by the ecu and if all is back to normal its j3 related.. contact who ever did the j3 and see if they can lower the fan trigger temp?? |

The dreaded Ford problem surfaces again...
- Is the aircon condensor (in front of the new radiator) blocked with sand, stones, bugs, etc? If the fans can't pull enough cool air through that will cause some problems. - a loose drive belt - rust or scale blocking water galleries in the block - air trapped in the cooling system - faulty coolant temp sensor If the fans work OK, perhaps the ECU is not getting the correct voltage (or whatever it requires to activate the fans). Hope this is some help.
