the belt costs about $30, and it takes about 10-15mins to change.
while you're changing it, check the tensioner pulley, make sure it spins smoothly and isnt noisy.

Hi Guys, James 84, you said to check the tensioner pulley, I have an XH ute with the 4.0l engine and the bottom tensioner pulley destroyed itself this morning and seized. The result was a totally stuffed belt. I got it home on a trailer and had a look at the pulley, removed it from the main bracket and the bearing case was stuffed. Can you tell me if these pulleys are purchased separately or do I have to buy the whol bracket with both pulleys attached? I also noticed that the plastic pulley on the water pump has a coating similar to cloth around it. Is this normal or should it be clean plastic? I assumed that the cloth type of covering is for non slip. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Cheers AU055

Just take the stuffed pully to supercheap. Autobahnz, repco. Better yet bursons. And ask for a new one.
About 50bucks.

the pulleys cost around $30, part number is EP002. dont worry about the top one.
just so long as the pulleys are clean, they'll be right.

Just want to say thanks a lot for your help. I contacted some spare parts shops and the local Ford dealer today and you guessed it, Ford only sell the whole unit for $230. The belt is $57 and the water pump is $125. Repco is $45 for the pulley, $55 for the belt and $39 for the water pump pulley. Peps at Narellan, $52 for the belt, $29 for the pulley, (it's on order as someone else had one fail over the weekend as well) and $28 for the water pump pulley which is metal and not plastic. Needless to say that Peps have my business and I pick them up on Wednesday if the pulley arrives from Melbourne. Cheers guys and all the best, regards Steve.
