hi guys, am having trouble changing the rear brake pads on ed monty, the piston wont go back into the callipers. Do they just squeeze back like the front ones, or are they diffrent? have tried to undo nipple that didnt work, have undone the handbrake mechanism as well but with no joy. Any help would be great thanks

the piston needs to be wound back into the caliper. There is a tool specifically used to do it that connects to a ratchet.

I don't get it, but I haven't had trouble using a g clamp in the middle of the piston.

if you are using a g clamp and forcing the piston in you are doing things wrong. The piston has to be wound back in. its to do with the handbrake set up.

yep one drone this procedure is only for EA to ED models. Your car has a different brake setup.

Before you go ahead and just change the pads, check the condition of the boots on the caliper pistons, if they look ratty it may be time to get the calipers off and have them overhauled. Inside the caliper are torrigton races and washers that can rust up over time and can make your breaking effort less that optimal.
