Anyone know how I can make my automatic transmission shift kit wired up so that it turns on when i flick the shift pattern switch into power.

like so when that switch is in normal/economy mods the shift kit is disabled, but when it is in power mode, then the shift kit is automatically enabled.

would a normal relay do the job (i'm not sure how relays work or are wired up)? or would i need something more complicatEd?

Yep a relay will do the trick.

I'd explain it better but I gotta run....

Yeah relay should do the trick.

Instead of boring you with the details.... (read down to Relay Basics - 101)

http://www.rattlebars.com/mtz/hornrelay.html

Hint: The power/econ switch will be your trigger (terminals 8 and 86), the shift kit will be the input/output (terminal 30/51 and 87)...

Also, if you use a two pole relay you will be able to keep the power/econ function as well as enable/disable the shift kit.

So long as the shift kit disables when in economy mode i'll be happy!

thanks 4.9, i'll read about it all now. i'd usually ask my dad (electrical engineer), but he'll go spastic when he figures out i want to do another mod to my car! :D Any one would think he's forgoten about all the cars he used to do!
