Just do a heap of small tacks close to each other but don't do them side by side do one here and one there and allow the panel to cool and also keep a bucket of water and a rag handy to help cool the panel quicker and then do a nice weld on top of the tacks, no chance of blow throughs and will still be plenty strong enough, pity I'm on the central coast otherwise I would have offered asistance

Cheers bear

just take your time and keep the panel steel cool and you will be fine

with you tacks have it on mediumish heat with a fast feed rate and modify setting from there.

if you want any advice feel free to message me

cheers bear
