good you got it sorted, was guna say are you using a mono black amp and did u try "tune" it in to a more listenable bass range? eg. frequency and bass boost and sub volume etc depending on your amp.

if u keep the 6x9s tune the bass down on them and tune the mid and treble up, let the sub do all the work, this will help lower distortion on massive notes!

you could put a sub in the parcel shelf, i just wired up a pioneer sub into a mates parcel shelf and it sounds nice, admittedly not as loud as mine but it has a nice note the whole volume range.

imo all falcons sound crap
unless you
a) sound deaden your boot ,the shred felt from old inner spring mattresses works 100% and can be obtained with the use of a incontinent relative and a stanley knife
pull up/out the carpet covers if it a ghia and spare wheel ,boot cover , boot lid can be filled, wheel arches can be filled, glue it inside the sub box too.
glue the deadnin to the body and reatatch carpets.
obtain the carpets to cover if not ghia
B)subz will sound off beat unless you face , phase and finally tune them correctly.
upward sloping reward facing and firing outwards (depending on sub and box ) is a easy place to start in a big boot .
c)6x9s are loud crap for 90z try hards( kidding).
get good set of 6 1/2 splits for the back and front. the front ones have to be shallow
the rear need good crossovers when amped.
tune speakers before subz.
i use response presicsion from jaycar
dont worry about the hump unless it factors into a custom box.
once you figure it out tha only down side is broken rear view mirrors, windscreens , fried batteries /alternators , industrial deafness and cryng carpark babies

a) mattress seriously, buy proper deadening material.
c) 6x9's are not crap you just dont know how to tune.
+ jaycar response precision are crap thats why nothing sounds good in your falcon
if you break mirrors, windscreens, fry your batteries and alternators then you are doing something wrong
my system makes 157db and nothing has broken. if your windows are falling out its time for a new car mate,

industrial deafness i would agree with if your stereo was loud enough to cause it.
also the crying carpark babies is what happens when they look at your car...

all in all

i love you

omg reading this thread is embarassing,

Look you dont need to block the port or make funny tubes, you can when you get serious but only for SPL

face the sub towards the rear of the car, correct the sound waves will travel better when it is faced toward the rear of the car

place the sub up on the ledge not in the middle of the boot

secure the sub box so that it has zero vibrations, this will maximise excursionVery true
