Hey
My new EL only blows hot/cold (any air) out
of the windscreen vents. Do EL's have the vent
controller box? If so where is it? behind glove
box on most cars yeah? Or is there a more underlying
problem? The car has got aircon and it works.

the default setting on the heaterbox is to the dash demist setting. u may have a vacuum hose off from the intake manifold to the heaterbox or maybe its come off of the controls behind the glovebox, also check for perished hoses too.
or possibly one of the direction flaps is broken in your heaterbox, they are made of plastic and go brittle and break
