I'd be interested to know if anyone has done a twin charger setup on a 4L, that is a supercharger and turbo charger on the same engine? I was reading a VW sales brochure where they use this setup... It seem pretty logical, to combine all the positves and decrease the negatives of each blower.
I was checking out the VW specs on there Golf 1.4L. It has a turbo that is supplemented by a roots s/c. At 3500 a clutch disengages the s/c so not to sap power. It runs 26 psi at idle and 36psi at 3500 rpm. Apparently with an aftermarket chip is can reliably(?) take 50psi!! Even with that, its still pretty tame and lame transport though.

36psi that's huge. Sure it wasn't a typo? I have know people who've pushed 30 through the stock 3 cyl charade motor but that was a hand grenade waiting to have the pin pulled.

I think your main concern would be trying to fit it all in the engine bay...

It would be easier to do on an au I would think. Tune wise anyway. Probly set you back 10k in parts and it would depend how handy you are from there.

Speak to Hi Boost on these forums, ask him how responsive his car is on the street. we're talking 4 litre motors here, on a small 1.5-2litre more it makes senes, they're torqueless. but a 4L doesn't even need boost to be drivable.
