hey guys
i got a tricky question.. how do you remove the rear view mirror from the windscreen on an au2?? before you say allen key.. the series1 has a small allen key like e series but series 2 does not.. i dammaged a windscreen and destroyed the mirror at the wreckers today trying to get it off.. to me it looks like a 1 way lock clip, like it goes in but not meant to come out. .lol any ideas??????? |

Quote: Interior Rear View Mirror NOTE: The interior rear view mirror is adhered to the windscreen and should not be removed due to the possibility of cracking the windscreen. Troy, that comes from the BA Workshop Manual. I will ask tomorrow at work for you. |

Just to let you know all models have the interior rear view mirror (base) adhered to the windscreen as we had to get the EBII white Fairmont one re done as it was loose or fell off while trying to adjust it so long ago now.

Just an idea. unfortunatly thats a no go! its glued/bonded on with sometjing similar to superglue, i tried to carefully remove a couple and cracked the windscreen every time... |

Troy, I asked one of our Technicians and he said you need to press those 2 little tags at the base of the mirror attaching bracket towards the screen and you SHOULD be able to slide the mirror upwards. He also said that they had damaged a few windscreens getting the mirrors off.
The latest mirror Ford are now supplying has a screw holding the mirror on. I guess they realised that the silly clip-on design doesn't work well. |

You dont listen (Changed to) When ya woman isnt looking, look to the left, look to the right and then look to the left again and smash the windscreen and yell out 'what the f**k, that branch just fell and broke my windscreen whilst my car was under a carport, how odd' Then using your windscreen non claim on excess (free windscreen basically) on your insurance in which you can get one free windscreen or glass replacement for a year. Ok maybe my idea is a bit messier, but sounds good. and Obrien does glass 24 hrs, sweeeeet nice idea in theory.. im the one that ends up doing and paying for the repairs. but no windscreen cover here, we could have had the extra cover for an extra $1 per day, but thats $365 a year more, so bugger that.. i can get a windscreen for $240 fitted.. anyway the mirror can stay that way untill its completely buggered or the windscreen needs replacing.. thanks guys.... |
