I can get hold of a low Klm vn 5 speed I know the input shaft is longer on the holden T5 but could i change it with the EA T5 to suit my EA bell housing and would the output shaft be the same spline as the for or is the holden one different?

I am asking this as i open up the EA T5 I have and the LAY SHAFT has broken teeth on it and the reverse gear is half worn the teeth on it too but for $160 for a secondhand lay shaft I can get the holden VN T5 for $100 any ideas what I can do or what way I should go?

Im wondering the same thing - a mates vr just got rear ended and I can get his box cheap as . . . but it would mean Id have to find a Ford V8 Bellhousing and input shaft . . .

just fond out today from a T5 specialist you can use a VN T5 but you need to cut and shut the input shaft to make it shorter and redo the spline other than that they are identical

h ok yer screw that - i think ill just keep hunting around for a v8 ford one when i have the cash - problem is they are as rare as rocking horse s**t . . .

It can be done but to do it properly you need to pull both boxes apart and swap the input shafts over

i have done it and its a s**t of a job in the end it wasent worth the effort
