Hey all I have a 1995 EF XR8, I am wondering what the best option is for the ignition; can I do away with the dizzy and convert it to a coil-pack system.....well like EF 6 cyl's are?... but maybe a high performance MSD system or some thing like that, what would be the best options for it and where to go??
thanks all Aaron. |

Go aussie with an ICE 6000E module:http://www.iceignition.com/
You could convert to AU EECV to run Direct ignition but it simply isn't worth the trouble. |

I gotta say though that the bang for buck factor of an aftermarket ignition system is not great. It's possible to spend money elsewhere on a stock motor to get more performance for less money outlay.
Having said that, I run ICE leads on my car and they are very good quality and do an excellent job.

I personally have IC & E leads on my Eb Ghia I6, and i had the guys there build up a Bosch Electronic dizzy to suit my Lh Torry's turbo 173, they also supplied a coil & leads too. It wasn't cheap, i remember spending about $550 on that setup, and handing over a working dizzy for the rebuild & recurve. I haven't got that engine running yet, but the feedback from mates with IC & E gear in their car is that it is worth it, but they usually do other mods first, then get the ignition system to suit those mods.
The leads made a big improvement on my Eb Ghia I6. Cheers ToranaGuy

Summitracing.com or Atlantic speed do some sweet prices on basic MSD kits. MSD cap and rotor, MSD 8.5mm leads, MSD blaster coil - $144 USD. Cheap and easy. |
