gday all, just wondering if the older xf BW40 can be be put behind a 3.9 in a DA.
and if it can will it just use the BW51 bellhousing and such? also how difficult is it to modify the rear gearbox mount and what has to be done to the mount to drop in a 4 speed? kind regards Rob |

It isn't as plug and play as you might think.
You'll need: 4spd BTR (duh) Bellhousing to suit Modify cross member New drive shaft / have you current one modified to suit I think the torque converter bolts straight onto your current flywheel The big problem is the computer to control it, it may be possible to have an ECU flashed to control the gearbox and wire up the required sensors etc or use a TCM.

Need to know if the BW40 is a straight swap for the BW51 because we have two of them.
We have two 40's we could use, and everything for a 4 speed conversion except the trans. Also have a C4 and a C something laying around. Which is the most straight forward swap or do I chase up a BW51. Cheers. |
