Wont be factory if its blurry and to remove shouldn't hurt demist lines if done carefully. Try a little edge first. The people that install tinting have a special solvent to do this job, might pay to do a little research. :D

based on my uncles tinting experiance: There are expensive methods of removing tint using specialised equipment
I have talked to me about retinting my rear window and it is a lot of work. most of the solvents do not do the job - still have to scrape the glue from the grass and scour the window damaging the demister lines.
Basically, the only way to do a decent job at tint removal is to scrape it off, scratching the demister lines irrepairably. Most tinters simply won't touch any of it.

I got a quote from Solartint Taren Point to remove and replace the after market tinted windows all round

The quote was $320 for new tint, with lifetime guarantee against fading and bubbles, and $50 to remove the existing film - thought it was a reasonable amount to pay to have it removed - saving a lot of hassle.

The guy had no problems with the removal issue - says it gets done all the time

Check out one of your local tint places - you may be better off getting them to do it, make sure they guarantee the demister

PS - hoping to get enough dollars saved to get it done in a week or two

If anyones interesting in Sydney or South Coast tint for falcons for under $240 with receipt and 20% if your interested too.

To remove your tint from the rear, peal it as you have a heatgun on the edge outside of the glass (close obviously) slowly pealing it off.

If it leaves glue, get some coke and petrol (yes im serious) and spray it on, let it set and get a razor blade (SHARP) and scrap it all off..

thats how u do it, but otherwise thye have chems to take it off (spray on chem) but tint mate told me thats how they used to do it but still use a heatgun just no coke lol

I removed the tint on my EF a few months back, and yes a few here in Fordmods suggested using a heat gun. Problem was, I didn't have access to one. For the rear window, I turned the demister on for several minutes to heat up, exposed the car under the sun for a few minutes...then alas!!! rear tint came off almost in one piece. The remaining adhesive on the window I took out using glass cleaner solution and a soft foam so as not to damage the demister lines.

A sweaty job but sure loved the car without its old factory tint which were turning purple.

My XR8 had the same problem when I bought it. Took it to Premier Tint and they removed the old film from the rear window and re-tinted for $100.
